Gun*America is a pretty good site for pricing most guns. It gives a fairly reasonable range. $300 is about right.

    Replace * with s.

Thanks, I saw them on gunbroker from 200-600, in other words useless for value comparison.

Usually any S&W with a dash 1 after the model number, will have a lot of people interested in it.[:)]

The -1 means it has the first modification(s) or changes in design or features to the original model (no dash). In the case of the Model 36, it means it has a 3" barrel. The original (no dash) M-36 had a 2 inch barrel.

I beg to differ with you sir, at one time I owned 2 original model 36's with 3" barrel, one square butt, one round. Somebody please kick me for selling them at shooter prices.

The Model 36 is also known as the "Chief's Special". Your "dash one" would've been made in the early '50's.....probably around '51 or '52.

    Blue Book value:

    98% - $290
    95% - $225
    90% - $200
    80% - $185

Mr. OReilly, I stand corrected on the early model 36's. They did no doubt come in 3". I should have said that the 36-1 was a HEAVY barreled model 36 that first came out in the 1960's.
