Haven't done it yet, but want to.

The only barrels I have seen are bull barrels (.920-inch diameter)and I don't want a barrel this size for my 10/22. I want a factory contour barrel.

Changing out the 22 caliber barrel for the 17HM2 barrel will probably mean changing to an oversize stock to accomodate the 0.920-inch bull barrel and replacing the factory bolt with a heavier bolt made for the HM2.

See the link for additional info:

People have been reporting that there are problems w/ the stock bolt, springs, etc.,on both the HMR and M2 ... you may have to change out more than the barrel. Wait for some f'bak from those that have had this conversion in place for a while.

I think I will wait for a while. I really don't want to put 300+ dollars in a Ruger 10/22 until I know what it's going to do. I just purchased a Remington 572 smooth bore and want to put an order in for a target 504 soon. I can pick up a 597 in 17HMR for 300. I'm interested in seeing what the HM2 is going to be like.
