Could anyone give me information on this gun. Background? Worth? Manufactored by C J Hamilton & Son, Plymouth, Michigan. Patented Oct 30, 1900 - Aug 13 1907 - No. 27

  Karla, if you check out some of the several auction sites, you'll find that that little gun is worth a few bucks! Depending on condition, from $100.00 or so for a "good" one on up. As far as background goes the Rifleman had a snippet in one of the recent issues on the firm's history and products.

  rufe-snow's link is an excellent reference on them. I couldn't find the link but had read it. I thought mine was a 27, but it is a 027 later rifle. It is probably the most economically produced rifle ever made being all stamped and rolled sheet metal including the wrapped sheet metal barrel. The brass lined iron barrel that is wrapped is very novel. Look at the bottom of the barrel and you can see the sheet metal seam.
  
  I've never been to excited about trying to shoot mine, but it is really cute, novel and interesting.

  I recently took my Hamilton 027 to a gun show for possible trading material. I was offered $150.00 for it and I declined. That is probably a fair price for one in its condition. I was told mine is in good shape for these rifles. The wood is in great shape and the metal is clean with no deep scratches or pitting. I am not sure if the sheet metal ever went through any kind of blueing process. If so, not much of it is left. Mine has a small bump on the barrel about a quarter the way down the barrel. It is a small bulge that can be felt when I run a patch through it. I have fired a blank with it but have refrained from using a short or CB cap. Cute and an interesting conversation piece.
