help with a model 70 xtr feather weight
I have a Winchester model 70 xtr feather weight chambered in 6.5x55mm I was told it is a rare gun because of the serial numbers on it. It was supposed to be 1 of 19 that were stamped wrong I was told they were supposed to be stamped in Swedish and the last few were stamped in English by mistake. Were can I go to find out this info does any body know? The rifle was given to me. Oh I also know that in the mid to late 90's they made the rifle in this caliber but this one was bought in 1989-1990.
Also I do have a rare model 94 lever action 30 wcf saddle ring carbine that is in pristine condition. The bluing is not even worn in the action the only thing I need to find is the saddle ring. The ring its self is missing. I know that back in the day they would take them off so they would not make noise. This has a low six digit serial number on it and has been appraised already. It too was given to me by a friend of mine that paid 100 bucks for it. Any help would be appreciated.

My brother has the rifle you describe in 6.5 X 55. Also, there is one at a local gunstore for $600. They are rare, but I suspect not as rare as you think. I have not heard any stories about them being stamped in English by mistake. I have personally used the ultr-featherlite, the Win. Model 70 sporter, and the SAKO hunter in the Swede. All have been incredibly accurate!
There are 3 of us locally (none of the above mention guns) who hunt with 6.5 X 55. (All SAKOS) It is a great caliber!

The earliest Model 70 Featherweight in 6.5 Swede, that I could find in the Blue Book, dates to 1991. It has the "Push-Feed" action. Nothing is mentioned about markings in Swedish. The B B values it between $240 & $435, depending on condition.
I don't know if it's possible to get a factory "Letter" for the newer production Winchesters? But I would certainly make an effort to contact them and get a "Letter" for this one.

thank you for the info. I know that they were made in 95 and later and the new in the box price listed for 700.00 at least that is what my book said. I also hunt with the swede 6.5x55 and it is a great white tail round. thank you again. 0
