Smith and Wesson 1911s, any experience?

Hi, can anyone speak from experience about Smith and Wesson stock 1911s?

Good. . .bad. . .high points. . .low points. Value for the money?

(Not the performance center ones. . .which I'm sure are quite nice. . .though pricey).

I'm thinking about 1911s, but unfortunately, being in communist MA, the Smiths are literally the only game in town if you want a new one, and the prices of all the used ones are puffed up to reflect that.

    I sold 5 of them. Everyone had nothing but good things to say. All were very happy. Wormanship and accuracy. I know which one your talking about. The silver with black grips

    they shoot great, very well put together, not picky about ammo. hate to say, but they do shoot better than a stock colt. nothing not to like.

    Own and shoot two of the original s/s fixed sight fullsized models. Among the best 1911s I own. Neither is for sale.[^]

    Before bringing out their own they were making parts under contract for several years so the 1911 is not "new" to S&W.

    Bought one a few months after they came out ... approaching 3,000 rounds and no problems what so ever. Good fit, good accuracy ... good gun!
