Got the barrel off. Why wouldn't that barrel swap with hte other pistol when the other barrels do?[:(!][?] 0 -
I have that problem sometimes with just one of my barrels. Apparently you can sent the gun back to Thompson for repair but I have always been able to drive the pin out & eventually get the barrel off.
If you tap the pin out you should be able to get the barrel off but it may be a bit of a hassle.0 -
Check the locking lug/bolt on the barrel(s) giving you a problem. I suspect you will find that the lug is solid instead of split like on your other barrels. Ninty (90+) plus percent of the problems are due to this.
You can order replacement locking lugs from TC and it's a pretty simple job to change them. Less hassel than sending the barrel back.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
The locking lugs on four of my five barrels look the same & all are split. The .22 LR barrel has a much smaller area of engagement but that is not the problem barrel. It's the 14" .223. Do I have to send the frame & barrel back or just the barrel? 0 -
If your problem barrel has the split lug then I'd suggest calling TC and discussing it w/ them ... have your frame s/n handy.
They will probably ask you to describe the base and maybe the stampings on it so have it handy as well.
In 35+ years I have seen 1 problem where the internal latch had a mfg. flaw and the parts had to be replaced. I've also seen about half dozen cases of the latch "casting" cracking or throwing off a small chip where it mates with the mounting screw, and one where the screw head seperated (but I think it might have had some "help"), and I've heard talk of another 6-8 having internal frame problems, but I did not see them.
If after talking w/ TC if they suggest sending both frame and barrel back I'd do it because it means they suspect something in the frame internals ... also they will give the frame a complete going over while they have it.
Here's the link to their web site so you can get their address and phone number. I've always found them to be really good people to deal with.

If it's one of the Armaloy barrels it will not fit a regular contender frame right with out sending it back to the factory.
