pre '64 colt revolver (never been fired)
I have gotten conflicting estimates on a colt revolver my friend owns. It is a .38 police special (colt) 6 inch barrel, still in the box with all the papers. It has never been fired. MINT CONDITION, it looks brand new. It was definately made before 1964. The one thing everyone does agree on is that it was more than likely made sometime in the mid fifties. Any information I can get on this gun would be very helpfull.

It should have the name on the box or barrel of the gun. If you can give the specific name, we can supply more info.

Once you know the actual model Colt you have, you can go to Proofhouse.com, find the model and serial # and find out exactly when it was made. Incidentally "pre-64" applies to Winchesters. In 1964 Winchester cheapened their entire line. (This is a long, painful story that you can find by doing a search on any one of a number of forums) If you can send some pics of the Colt in question any number of us can give you an approximate value.
