Firestorm 45 autos, good/bad?
What's the verdict on Firestorm 45 automatics? I know they aren't a Kimber or a Les Baer but how do they rate with their level of 45 in the marketplace?

Well, I have a Firestorm in .40 cal - Nickel and a Firestorm in .380, love them both. Not a big .40 fan and picked this one up for $200, figured I could make a few $$ if I didn't like it. Well, I have shot it several times and really like it. Both of my Firestorms are very accurate for $200 guns. Depending on what the .45 is selling for I would recommend it. If you really like the .45 you can pick up a GI Springfield for around $400.

The first auto 45 I bought was a Firestorm standard model, $ 220.00.
It shot as well as I could at the time. It jamed once or twice in the first 100 rounds, but never since then. It shot any ammo I fed it. It is a 'cheaper' gun, and after 1500+ rounds it is feeling a little loose. (Once of my podnuhs says he thinks he can cycle it with a "hard shake" not true though.) I believe the frame/slide are not of the hardest material, and keeping them clean and lubed will probably extend it's life. A recoil buffer may help too. Mine needs a stronger spring (now ?), but I still shoot it periodically. I bought a Springfield 1911a1 with some factory custom additions and spent about $ 475 (bbl upgrade fitted to the bushing and a lowered eject port mostly). I can shoot it very well now that I am more friendly with my newer gun, but, I don't regret getting the Firestorm at all. It was a good buy. It still shoots just fine. I always bring it for a guest. They are lifetime guaranteed, but I don't know about the service.
