bullet backstop question

i forgot my military training, but how many sandbags would it take to stop a 230gr fmj 45 from forward motion?[?]

  I agree with one. the only problem with buildin a sandbag stop is the bags breaking down and your backstop falling down. that happed to me so i just dumped 12 truck loads of dirt on top and said "that'll do"

  i agree with the endless dripping of sand if its shot, but i just needed it to have a some set up off to the side in case of a ricohette gone wild.
  really, only one? hard to believe isnt it?
