Recommendations on a Varmint 22-250
Could you suggest some quality lightweight 22-250 rifles? I held a Browning A-bolt Stalker in 223cal, which felt great in my hands, any thoughts? Or is there something more accurate? My purpose is dual, for small game and long range target. I'm new to rilfes, so bear with me...thanks.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I personally would recommend a Remington 700 for .22-250. It's very durable, accurate, and good looking to boot.

depending on your budget, a savage 110 might be a good choice also. they too are accurate strong rifles. that and theres more aftermarket things you can put on, the more you get into rifle shooting (barrels, triggers, stocks, ect.) the tikka t3 is supposed to be an outstanding rifle, you could prolly get one for a little less than a 700, and a little more than a 110. as for accuracy overall, i dont know about the browning. they're good guns but you might be able to find something more accurate, at a smaller price, that way, you can put your $$ towards a good hi-power scope scope.[8D]

If you are on a budget the Savage is an awesome rifle out of the box. Great trigger and will shoot 1/2MOA with no problems in 22-250.

You can get these for right around 700.00 if not less.
Now if you want a BAD A55 varmit long range gun and not really worried about money. COOPER Rifles IMHO are one of the best for the money. They run about 1300.00 but all the varmit guys at work have several of them they swear by. I've shot a few in 223, 243, and 25-06 and 1 hole groups at 100 are not uncommon. 6mmPPC 1 hole groups are just the norm.0 -

lightweight and varmint are not used in the same sentence[:)] If you want a lightweight walking rifle, then most of them will do just fine. A Heavy barreled Varmint rifle for being stationary will require one of the brands mentioned. But a rem700 VS can be bought, then trued by the gunsmith and bedded, and will shoot with any of the high priced "purty" guns, at a lower price. You can't go wrong with a good heavy barreled rem700 (MHO)
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

If you want a LIGHTWEIGHT varmit rifle that will really shoot,get a Cooper model 21 classic. About 6 lbs and will shoot 1/4" groups at 100 yds. 3 shots in the same hole is not that hard to do with them.expensive,but worth every penny. 0 -
Ruger M77 Mark II, take your choice of styles.... Varmits at 250+ yards is not a problem. My wife took out a coyote at a little over 300 yards.....
