McGowen custom Rifle

Can anyone tell me how to identify if i have a true McGowen rifle?
It is a McGowen 300 H&H,made up on a 1909 Argentino action,bolt adj. trigger. This is a custom stocked very sweet rifle.Thinking about
selling it,but don't want to give bad info.

    When Harry Mcgowen barrels an action he stamps the bottom of the barrel with a serial number. Pull the barreled action out of the stock and see what is marked on the bottom of the barrel. Next call him and have him look up the project and see what his records say. The stocks that his son makes up are real works of art and there is like a 2yr wait. I know, a buddy of mine has been waiting that long for his 30-06 custom. So if they stocked it they should have a record as to the style, type of wood use and possibly the checkering pattern. If they only put up the barreled action then they can tell you that, too. I don't believe that Harry stamps his name onto barrels he just sells as a barrel blank.

    McGowan Rifle Barrels...815-937-9816 I have owned a McGowan rifle..A true piece of art, in the old school style. Two other 'smithing jobs commissioned to them did not go so smoothly. I won't smear Harry on a public forum, as he does do beautiful work. Just be precise on what you expect and be durn sure there were no mistakes made. It happens to the best of us.
