Pros: Accurate, Powerful, Reliable, Inexpensive, C&R, Historic
Cons: Poor sights, Brittle firing pin breaks if dryfired, Ammo selection limited.

Ammo is not that readily available(way cheaper to shoot if

I had one for a while and its a great pistol, ammo just too damn expensive to shoot with on a daily basis or even a monthly basis for that matter. The bullet will defeat a class two vest though. I paid 140 for mine though so you have a deal.

I agree with rimfire72, the ammo IS available but mostly limited to mil-surp FMJ and a lot of it is corrosive. Seems Hornaday had some, but might have been just bullets. Sellier & Bellot loads some for it as well and no worse price than .380 in price. I have a Tokarev and may just have to snag a CZ52 yet. The round is cheap in mil surp., recoil is no prob but it is quite loud for a little cartridge. The Cz52 seems well made, but is a rather large and heavy for it's size. But $100 bucks? You could do a lot more foolish things than that and not have as much in return. 0 -

Get a CZ-52, can of ammo (or two) from AIM & have a blast (literally!). They're LOUD, fling brass a country mile & surprisingly accurate.

As I mentioned on other threads, CZ-52s are like a Testors model kit. Nothing special out of the box, but can be built up in to an incredible handgun with unique potential.
They can also be made pretty ( see below.
CZ-52 is a mandatory project gun, where allot of the gun needs to be swapped, including the firing pin, grips, slide-stop, sometimes the barrel and it's a good idea to cut away the front sight, cut a dovetail in it's place and install trijicon sights ( baby eagle rear, Sig 226 front are recomended ) and sight the gun in. Do all of that and you will have the ultimate long-range auto pistol on your hands.
Winchester, Seller&Bellote, Fiocchi and a few off brands make good quality ammo for them, although reloading is almost mandatory.
The 7.62 Tokarev lost populearity as a surplus handgun for being a "hole poker" with ball ammo, but now in the JHP age, the cartridges potential is being more widley realised and is now progressivley increasing in populearity and a nomber of manufacturers are talking about making 7.62 Tokarev specialty ammo, including Cor Bon.
I have even heard a little bit of talk about a new 7.62 Tokarev handgun coming out, not to mention that the Russians still use the cartridge in their military to this day in the Bizon, so it's becomong more and more of a cartridge that appears to be here to stay, and you can expect quality ammo availability to increase dramaticley over the next decade.
