Remington 660 ANSWERS !!
rrfhunter and reddog, let me add validity to your standard caliber laminated stock 660 question...First of all, there will always be doubting thomas's like starting member xp-100 that has no buisness responding on the experts forum without at least doing alittle bit of research if you are obviosly not qualified to speak on a topic.
1.) he could not take the laminated stock off his magnum 600 and put it on a standard 660 barrel action and claim it to be ultra rare.It would obviously be a parts gun as the two stock designs are different.( caps, diamond inlay, finsh ) strike !
2.)he cannot remove the recoil pad and bolt on a plastic buttplate as this changes the length of pull from around 13.25 to about 12"...strike again !
3.)and lastly, since i have owned three of these guns, i can tell you that even though remington did put these laminated stocks on there standard caliber guns, they did hold true to not only the buttplate on the standard calibers, but also held true to not putting sling studs into the stocks on the standard calibers either, which they did on the recoil padded magnums
4.) I do not claim to be an expert, but I am observant...for the record, all three of mine were assembled in the last year of production for the 660

Scott; I agree with you on all points! The 660-308 laminated gun I own
and the 2 others I have had the pleasure to look at were in my opinion
factory produced guns. I own a remington 600 & 660 in 223 which were never in a Remington catalog but they are in my safe.Thanx for the
knowledge,input and interest in these guns.

Scott, I have a question for you. I owned a 660 Magnum in .308. The stock wasn't laminated. It was a walnut stock with a black fore-end tip. It also had the ventilated rib. Is that the way they normally came from the factory, or was the laminated stock the only way they came? 0 -
This may have been a Model 600 barrel action mounted
in a Model 660 stock,which I have seen several times.
