Distinguish between 30-40 Krag models
When my father was young, he purchased a 30-40 Krag from surplus at the armory. He's taken good care of the gun, and has not modified it at all.
He has now given the gun to me, and I am just trying to find out more about it... For instance, how do I distinguish one Spanish American era 30-40 Krag from another? I'd like to know what year's model it is. The serial number is legible.
Perhaps this is a very basic question. I found a lot of web pages that talk about the gun in general, but none give a set of distinguishing characteristics that would allow me to determine what model it is.
Any insight is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
