    for one thing, no folding stocks unless the SKS has the minimum number of American made parts. I think that also goes for the flash hider being added and possiblily the large cap mag.

    as stated, Mark C. is the autority.

    But here is a down and dirty interpretation as "I" understand it. 1994 gun ban that just expired only applied to USA made guns like ar-15s. 1989 gun ban did NOT expire and applies to imported guns. Imported guns can be made into "assualt weapons" but must have a minimum of USA made parts to qualify as a USA made gun.
    In other words, you can get an imported gun, and "manufacture" it into a USA made gun by switching out a bunch of parts.
    At least that is how I understand it, There are several companies that sale a "kit" of USA made parts for converting your imported gun. IE. you can take your Mak90 and switch out the parts and then put a folding stock and pistol grip on it.
