half cock for safety carry?

I carry my Beretta 950 (which is similar) with hammer down and safety off. The firing pin is the inertia type and requires the hammer to "fall" on it for it to strike the round.

The only time I use the safety is when the hammer is at full cock, but I don't carry the gun that way.

Be it right or wrong, that is the way I do it. I am sure if I am wrong there will be numerous to let me know the error of my ways.

If your gun has a transfer bar then you have no need for half cock. If you do not have a transfer bar then maybe half cock is the way to go. [8D]

Beantole, your gun is just a 21A, not a Bobcat (the Bobcat is a similar gun in .32). The half cock position is intended only as a secondary safety in case the hammer slips while being cocked, or the sear fails. The manual safety on the 21A can be used when the hammer is on full cock.

Both the 21A & the 950 have inertia type firing pins, but neither has a transfer bar safety. Due to the low mass of the firing pin, both guns are safe to carry with the hammer down on a live round.

Bobcat model 21 is a .22 or .25. The Tomcat model 3032 is the .32, if I'm not mistaken

It's easy to spot liberals-they are the ones who have no assets to protect and need every handout they can get. They have forbeyed themselves ascendence to a productive lifestyle.
