Gold Cup Series 80........ mod

I've posted this in general forum but thought maybe some experts would like to give comments also.

Has anyone here, removed the extra parts from a series 80 colt? Ever since I've read about the difference in the trigger, I fixate on the trigger. I'd like to remove the extra parts to see if I feel a difference. If anyone has done this, please post.

    Hello The parts have to be removed in both the slide and the frame. Brownell's sells a spacer that fits in the empty space of the frame. To remove the parts in the slide the rear sight has to be removed the trouble involved and the legal problem this can cause are not worth the trouble for most people but it can be done.     Thanks Perry. The slide plunger was the one I had questions about. I'll order the filler if the change feels good. I plan on keeping the extra parts in case I ever decide to sell.

    Wiz, it is very simple to remove slide plunger off a series 80 slide. You do not remove the rear sight. Just pull the extractor(after the stop) out a little and the plunger and spring will fall out. As far as the trigger, i assume you mean trigger pull since the triggers are the same. I doubt that you would notice any difference in the pull with or without the 80s parts. Any competent gunsmith can do a trigger job and give you the pull you would like with the series 70 or 80. They will charge a little more on the series 80 because of the extra parts involved.

    C&S makes a replacement parts kit that is supposed to reduce pull by 1/4-1/2 lb for series 80 guns. Midway has it for $45.89

    Thanks all. I'll remove the parts and see if any difference. If there is, I'll order the filler piece. If not, Guess it's time for a trigger job.

    if you really get into it i would not take the sear out either...thier is a itsy bitsy spring i there ...beside that you may loose it, its one hell of jay oH bee to get it back in, if never done it before.....
