Cleaning Gun With Drill

After rigorously cleaning my guns by hand with the brass (brass right?) wirebrush, I wondered if it could be done faster.

Would it be safe to attach the wirebrush to a handheld electric screwdriver to clean the barrel? Or would that screw up the spiral inside the barrel?

    One of my shooting buddies chucks his bore brush in a cordless drill, dips the brush in Hoppes #9, and cleans his barrel this way after every pistol match. I've never tried this though.

    Since the lands and grooves run longitudinally, a rotating brush would not clean the bore very effectively. However, this method is one that I do use for the chamber. I put a cup brush on a dremel tool and run at a low speed in the chamber with some hoppes. However, I would use a small, easily manipulated tool (such as dremel)rather than a drill if I were you.

    It's easy to spot liberals-they are the ones who have no assets to protect and need every handout they can get. They have forbeyed themselves ascendence to a productive lifestyle.

    There is a much,much easier way. It's called Foaming Bore Scrubber.
    The stuff works better than you can.

    MrGna has given you some good advice. You really dont want to spin
    any electrically driven tools in your bore. If the tool or the wire shaft of the brush nicks your crown, you'll ruin the accuracy of your gun. Clean it the proper way as instructed with a Hoppes or Outers
    (or other brand) inexpensive cleaning kit for you caliber. $7 to
    $20

    You could use a drill to brush the chamber. Do not use a drill while brushing the barrel. You would be going cross-wise over the lands. When I clean the neck area of the chamber I use a nylon brush that doesn't wear as bad as copper/brass ones. -hope that helps.

    I would use a nylon brush, and a bore guide, but it still wouldn't work as good as cleaning by hand, because your going across the groves, you need to push the brush in and out to get between them.

    I tell you what, some mpro7 and a nylon brush on a short rod, and a bore guide makes an awesome job at cleaning a revolver cylinder.

    Bubba would use a small drill bit just about snug with the barrel opening. That way, when he sees small flakes of metal, he knows that the gunk and the grime is all gone.

    Ever try a 'boresnake'? I haven't used one but see them in almost every shop that sells cleaning equipment. I have an Otis cleaning kit and it works just fine.

    What is this "Foaming Bore Scrubber"? Can I find it at my local gun store or even Wal-Mart?

    The Foaming Bore Cleaner referred to is made by Outers, and i bought mine at Wal-mart. It really does clean all the copper and powder fouling out of the bore. Follow the instructions carefully and you will be surprised at what comes out on the cleaning patch. I found that it works equally well on stainless and blued rifles.
