The rifles are named Benjamin after the founder of the company, Walter Benjamin, rather than the great Benjamin Franklin. The model and serial number would be helpful to date it.

    Hello xpert...

Not sure what badlandsbutch is referring to, but my "Benjamin Franklin" air rifle is a Model 317, and it was manufactured during the mid 1960s. Value today is about $100.

xpert look on the back just below the bolt action for the model number. It may be very faintly marked. If it does not have a model number there is may be a very early model and have the caliber such as 177 there. I have two, one is a pistol dating from 1930s or before, so marked 177 with a rifled barrel, which has the pump that pulls out forward under the muzzle. The other is a long gun smooth bore with 310 back and below the bolt, stamped on the side CAL BB. Its pump rod works with a lever linkage to the fore end stock. Both marked "Benjamin Franklin" on left side. Back and below bolt both are marked Benjamin Air Rifle Co. St Louis, USA. Hope this helps.

I learned from FletcherOR@aol.com that the model 177 pistol was made from about 1935 till 1939.
