Frommer Stop Takedown
I got my Frommer partly apart with some instructions I found on a website, but for the life of me I cant get the bolt head off of the main body. The instructions say to rotate the head clockwise with the bolt to the rear. How does once accomplish this. My pistol does not want to cooperate. The instructions are quite vague on how to go about this, it just tells me to do it without saying how.

I assume you've removed the barrel guide and recoil spring. Using the slotted top of the barrel guide, put the slot on the matching lug at the front of the guide for the recoil spring. Push it to the rear and rotate it 90* (NOT 180*). Then cock the hammer and pull the bolt to the rear. Then turn the bolt head (which contains the extractor) to disassemble the head from the rest of the bolt. I don't recall if it's CW or CCW, but it will only turn one way. If it won't turn by hand, use a needle nosed pliers with a rag to cushion. 0 -
Yes I got those off and tried to turn the bolt head clockwise as per the instructions, but it does want to come at all. Does the bolt have to be all the way to the rear though, or just far enough to get the rotation finished? 0 -
All the way to the rear. Don't force it. If you can't get it apart, I'll take mine apart and the post more detailed instructions. 0 -
Yeah its not coming out. Its hard to get in there even with a needle nose with it all the way to the back. It is even harder to do it and hold the bolt back at the same time. 0 -

OK, you have a "frozen" bolt. Try this: Put the barrel retaining nut on loosely--about 2 1/2 turns. Then pull the bolt body back about 1/4" and block it temporarily with a piece of wood or soft metal. Then use the slot in the barrel guide to rotate the recoil spring guide another 90* (CAREFUL, spring tension! Don't point it at your face or anything breakable!) and remove it and the spring. Now cock the hammer and pull back hard on the bolt body. The bolt body and the bolt should come out in one piece, for further disassembly. If it won't come out, soak the bolt and bolt body in WD40 ovenight, and if it won't come out in the morning run a short 5/16" or 1/4" wood dowel down the barrel, run the bolt body back as far back as you can, and start tapping on the dowel. You can get the bolt body and bolt out in one piece once the bolt has been cammed about 45* CW. Keep us informed of your progress. Good Luck. 0 -
Wehrmacht, add to the above: If yoou still san't get it apart, remove the barrel nut and then take out the entire barrel and bolt assembly for further soaking. 0
