Scope for .22 Mag rifle

Hello,
is anyone out there using a BSA, Tasco, bushnell or other inexspensive 6-24X40mmAO scope with 1/8" MOA turrets? I want one to use on an old marlin .22 mag that I've been working on. Don't want to spend more than $115 on a scope.[:)]

    Just put a BSA "Sweet 17" on a Ruger 77 in .17HRM. Great scope for the money. Rifle will cloverleaf at 75 yards. If that's what you can afford, go for it.

    I have a tasco 3x9x40 on my H&R 700 . Works great.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    I got a Stainless Marlin .22 Mag myself and I put a cheap stainless BSA .22 Special on it and it'll cut twigs at 65 yards. The scope is less than $55 bucks and works perfect for the money.

    I have a couple BSA's on .22's, .22M and 5MM Mag all work great. I also use Simmons quite frequently on the same caliber of guns... They, too, perform exceptionally well. I personally like the Simmons best and they can be purchased from many internet souces wery reasonably. For your application I don't think you can go wrong with any of the scopes mentioned. Good luck with your choice and enjoy the shooting!

    Thanks to everyone for the info. I will most likely be buying a scope soon...tired of my 4-12X40 cross hairs covering up stuff at 100 yards! :) Incidentally, the rifle I'm using is actually 3 generations of Marlin parts. The reciver is a glenfield 80, the barrel is a 16.25" from a 25MN takedown, the stock is from an 883!

    With the addition of a JARD 3lb trigger(HIGHLY recommended for a Marlin), this little rifle has shot 5 round groups of around 1/4" at 50 yards. like I said, the scope sucks for shooting at 100yds, so that spreads out to like, 3/4"(or more) at that range. Can't wait to see what happens with a higher magnification scope!

    If you are hitting .5 moa at 50 yards and sub-moa at 100 yards, I am a little suspicious that a higher magnification scope is not going to make it shoot tighter groups at 100.

    I just got a Tasco 2.5 - 10, with AO and target turrets for $60. I wasn't expecting much and was very surprised at the quality of this scope. I have it on a Clark 10/22. Sweet.

    If your crosshairs are currently too thick you may find that alot of the less expensive scopes aren't going to be different. It's worth a trip to the gun store to actually take a look at what you'll be buying. Less expensive scopes have gotten much better and even the higher end ones are less expensive now than years ago, so I think it is definately worth an "in person" look.

    the crosshairs is why I like the .22 scopes from Cabelas,they are their store brand "pine ridge".Very fine crosshairs,1" tube,made for .22's,,I have a couple 4x on 10/22's and a 3 to 9 on a 9422 mag,my son has one on his marlin we all love them,best .22 scope I have ever used shooting tree rats.
