my brother recently got his hands on a 45. amt backup double action. Its in mint condition, but he is having one problem,JAMMING. could this be due to the 230 grain ammo he is using? NEED HELP.

Best thing to do is to try different brands/weights of ammo to see which it likes, and keep the weapon clean. I have one (guess I'm just lucky) that seems to like everything I've fed it so far(over 1000 rounds no failures), but I don't reload or use the cheap stuff.
These guns get a bad rap for QC and jamming issues, but like a lot of firearms some are more quirky than others.
If that don't work, you can always melt it down and use it for fishing weights! LOL

    Play safe!

I have a spare FACTORY ORIGINAL clip for this pistol. I will be unavailable for two weeks, but you are welcome to advise if interested.. (mkood@earthlink.net)

I have one of the early ones-before they added the series 80 type firing pin safety. I had to move the feed ramp forward, make it wider, and longer into the mag well. Haven't had a problem since. I compared mine to a newer one and the factory did the same with the newer guns. Alfonse.

A friend of mine is an Ex-cop. He said they used to issue these, except in .380 cal. He noted Frequent problems with Jamming/Reliabity
of this gun. Most officers never even bothered taking them out of the box.
Be he did. He said with the way the gun was shaped, and its unNeccessary heavy weight, you just drop the gun into a long
tube sock and it makes an Great Flat-Jack.
Unstead of a night stick, he just hit you with that a few times.
Very affective for self defence..Hey, maybe in the process of beating
a guy over the head with this homemade skull cracker, the AMT pistol
inside, might just work properly and fire off a fews rounds with
every blow you make. 50/50 chance of hitting him.
