Tarus Titanium 41mag? Any experiences, or thoughts
Unless there a good reason not to , I plan to buy a Tarus Titanium
.41mag. It has a 2-3in. barrel, and is obviously very light.
I was going to use Buffalo Bores (uper hot)ammo in it, but just
for defence.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You'll be buying a handful, but they are good revolvers and are a good carry weight.
Only downside I can add is that the gripper grips tend to hang on clothing a bit so lighter weight shirts/jackets can ride up.
Practice enough with the "hot stuff" to know the point of impact difference.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

I am a big fan of the 41mag. The Tarus Titanium is a very good configuration. I am not crazy about the 2-3 inch barrel. My 2 cents[8D]

Cool! I like a good whack from a handgun, although a titanium pistol that weighs about 1.3 pounds might be a little bit more than fun.
A 2 to 3 inch barrel on a titanium revolver would weigh-in at about 20.9 ounces so it will be very light. The titanium is plenty strong enough to withstand the recoil impulse without stretching the frame. Titanium metal pistols will cost more than their steel/SS counterparts so be prepared for sticker shock, titanium was going for about $100/lb, if I recall correctly. While the titanium will hold up the gun might be subject to loosening screws and eventual endshake etc. Read the following link from a fellow also with a titanium Taurus.

Asssuming a 200 grain bullet at 1200 fps, the free recoil impulse will be 22.8 ft/lb and the recoil velocity in your hand will be 33.6 fps - Wow! - that is really fast because the pistol is so light. I hope you don't get the front sight imbedded in your forehead. The same load out of a 7-1/2-inch Ruger Super Blackhawk (49 ounces) would have free recoil energy of 9.68 ft/lb and recoil velocity 14.28 fps just as a comparison.
This gun will actually recoil worse than my Super Blackhawk loaded with 300 grain bullets and 19 grains of 2400 powder which would be 17.9 ft/lb recoil energy and 19.41 fps. It doesn't seem that bad though because of the weight of the gun.

I own a Taurus Ti in .45 LC and have put 300-400
rounds thru it. I have worked up some good handloads
for practice and carry Corbon's 200g JHP ammo in it for
defense. I have not had a minutes trouble, no loose screws
yet and it shoots to point of aim. It is a handful and recoil
is not for the weak wristed and has a good deal of muzzle blast.
The barrel length on mine is 2"and ported. I have shot a .41
also and it was a fine shooter as well. Either one will for sure
stop the bad guys. Be prepared for sticker shock as mentioned, but
shop around, I've had mine for a few years, prices should be getting
better. If I had it to do again, I would buy another one.

I own a .357 Ti and have had really crappy experiences with Taurus customer service. If I were you I would stick with a more conventional handgun than the Ti series - if only to avoid EVER having to deal with Taurus! I had serious problems with mine from the start, and Taurus continually refused to address the issues.
I will never have complete trust in my .357.
I am in the market for a .40 or 9mm now. I originally considered the 24/7 or other Taurus models. However, after dealing with Taurus I will never own another one. I will be buying the Baretta.

I have the 4" Ti, and am extremely happy with it. Not to argue with shotgunmaster, but I have large hands, long fingers and carpal tunnel in both hands and do not find it to be problematic whatsoever. In fact, I find the recoil, even with Federal's 250 gr. Castcore ammo to be very managable. It is much more comfortable recoilwise than my Ruger GP100 6" using standard .357 loads, and even moreso that my S&W Model 36 .38 Special which has large wooden grips. The ribber grips are great, and are managable as to the catching on clothing issue if a proprly designed holster is used. I guess this is a classic example of 'to each his own'.
I also have an opinion on your SD carry load. I carry a 9mm during the warm months up here but carry the .41 during the heavy clothing seasons. I don't see the need for the super-heavy Buffalo Bore stuff for carry purposes, or even most hunting applications for that matter. I use the Cor-Bon 170 gr.ammo. Again, just my opinion.0 -
crawdog's got it right, buffalo bore is for hunting...
check out corbon, etc. for SD loads, most of the hunting loads are for penetrating deep into big(ger) game, and would just punch little holes in a person.-.-.-.we are the all singing, all dancing crap of the world.-.-.-0 -
Yeah, I know the Buffalo Bore ammo is hunting ammo. But it appears
to fully utilize the meaning of the gun, "41 MAGNUM".
The primary reason I listed the ammo, is to ask you guys the
question, if the Tarus Titanium gun can handle it???
The website that sells the ammo specifically says,
"Don't contact us and ask if your gun can shoot our bullets".
Second, I'm really not worried if a bullet Happens to overpentrate
and go out the back side. Ever hear of "Body Cavity Vacuum".
This happen when a bullet leaves you, it creates a vacuum inside you
and sucks blood and chunks out the exite hole. THIS WILL NOT TICKLE.
And from the numerous gun fight reports I have read, You constantly
hear that a bullet Did NOT Penetrate Enough..
Please someone correct me if I'm wrong. Note: I have been wrong
before, it is not uncommon.
