Great find, if it is really a factory .308 with a laminated stock. I have the 350 Rem mag. Love it!!
You might try contacting the guy at GOA to see how he documented his. He may be willing to share this information.

It ain't what you shoot, it's what you hit.

I have owned 1 of the laminated 660-308 for a couple of years.I have talked to several other collectors who have them also so they were a very limited factory produced gun. I paid a lot more than $400.00 for mine.I have complete set's of both Remington 600 & 660 rifles including the very rare 223 but this rifle was a very nice addition to my collection. Congrats on your lucky find!

have had two in the 308 and 0ne in the 243...heard of one in a 222 , but never actually laid my eyes on it...all three were put together in the last year of production..useing up the last of the laminated stocks since the magnums werent popular then ? a distributers special order ? who knows, but they are out there !

ok so all i have to do is mount one of my laminated stocks (have 2)
to a later produced rem 660 i have and walla i have a special run 660?
I dont understand i have a 350 mag in laminate and i have 2 stocks as back-ups just in case and i own 6 600/660 rifles anyone could just bolt up a stock and then have a super rare collector like the 223 right??

I can see if you have the box and original paper that stated that that rifle was ordered and shipped that way other than that its still just a 660 with the price tag of the others nothing to special

but if by adding a laminated stock we should all flood the auction sites with them and sell for 1400$ also

some things i just dont understand
    the 223 i can

These laminated stocks don't have the rubber remington recoil pads. They are just the hard plastic butt plates. The recoil pads were only on the magnum rifle. But I guess I could mount my 660-223 in one of my laminated stocks and create a super rare piece worth....[8D]

thats what i was saying i have a 660 350 mag almost 100% and 2 magnum stocks laminated with the black recoil rem pads im just going to unbolt the recoil pad insall a plastic rem cap and bolt it up on one of my rem 600/660's and sell for 1400$

reddog i can see yours its a 223 very ultra rare i dont think i could part with that ive never seen one before

but if anyone is interested i have a take-off barrel rem 600 vent rib chambered in 223 for sale it used to be a 222 any takers ??

anyway if it doesnt have the box and papers from rem i wouldnt pay more than what the others are bringing this is why these rifles are getting so high because someone slapps a stock on it says 30 made and sells it for 1000$[V]

ow well if there are people to buy i say red dog lets sell em [:D]

Chris, I hear what you are saying and totally agree it can be done.
The rifle I have is mint if not unfired and appears to be factory
made.I have many of the 600 & 660's new in box and have been collecting the little guns for over 25 years with nearly 60 in my collection. It is hard to get Remington to document very much with these rifles although I did get caliber production numbers from them at on time. Best Red Dog Mr600

I wasn't really looking for jerk off responses.....

I was looking for legitimate information from someone with EXPERTISE on how to document a guns production history not be surrounded by idiots. And by the way, my observation at the gun shows is that it is the laminated STOCK that garners the premium. It was very unusual in it's day, otherwise I've never seen a 600/660 with anything but crappy wood. So if you guys want to throw premium wood on cheap guns knock yourself out.

    I'm surrounded by children....

    ....I never met a gun I didn't like!
