.22 Pistol scope options???

Recently I bought a Beretta U22 Neos and have decided I would like to mount a scope, or red dot on it. Will mostly be plinking and the occasional squirrel hunt. Would love to hear your ideas on scope vs. red dot. If you prefer scopes, fixed or variable, and what power?
Finally, are any of the "cheap" brands reliable on a relatively recoil-free .22? I see BSA and NcStar pistol scopes, but have always stayed away from the Chinese stuff...

    IMHO I think you would like a red dot better You can get a ULTRA DOT with 4 different size dots to meet the conditions you are useing it in . with a rifle scope it is not hard to keep full feild of view but with a Pistol just the slightest twist of the wrist and the scope goes black. with a red dot just keep the dot inside the edges of what you want to hit.

    Is the ultra dot a tube style, or reflex style?

    The ultradot is a tube type made in both 1 inch and 30MM. Imho I like the tube type as it is more water proof and less prone to damage but other people like the reflex type . See if you can find a gun club where you can try both . Both types are a REFLEX type as the led is projected onto a slightly angled glass it is that one is in a tube and one is not . You can shoot both types with one or both eyes open The large lens is more of a distraction to me but different opinions make the world go round. Cheers Karl

    The ultradot may be more than you want to pay, but I'm with "Perry" on the choice.

    Lower cost red dots generally are 5 MOA or larger and for a 22 hunting squirrels, etc. that's to large.

    As for the NCSTAR ... I'm seeing more of them all the time, and folks are happy with them. I've looked through several, both fixed and variable and it is a bright, clear, sight picture. One fella have been using one on his 8mm Mauser for over a year and no problems.

    However, one downside is that I have occassioanlly seen one where there is a slight flaw in one or more reticle bars near the outside edge of the view. The center is fine, but I find it to be a bit of a distraction, but that may just be me.

    Neo's are great plinkers and small critter poppers.

    If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

    Thanks everyone!!! Took the advice and just bought a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot on clearance for $79.00 at a local store. Contender Man, it has four reticles including a 3 MOA dot....good for head-shooting dinner![:D]
