Kimber vs. Para
I'm searching for a good CCW gun -like none of you are?! I've possibly narrowed it down to the Kimber's CDP series: compact CDP II or Pro CDP II. Or Para's new Black Watch Companion. I really like the Kimber's but I'm intrigued with the LDA that Para has developed.

Go to a range, rent and fires both types. Buy the one you like the feel of in your hand. I have fired a Para with LDA. It was an interesting firearm, but being an old fart, I still prefer a SA trigger.

I've fired the CDP, completely reliable for such a small 1911. Very accurate too. Am not familiar with the Para.

There is nothing wrong with the Kimber and thats a fact. I do not know the pros or cons of the para you mentioned. [8D]

I had a Kimber Ultra carry II at one time. The gun was too tight
in the slide and action, and to loose in the clip and feeding
chamber. The gun was Accurate as all Hell, but that was the only
good thing about it!!
To many burps, and bullets ramed into wrong areas, also the slide
would just pop open in the middle of shooting a full clip. I even
bought a replacement Wilson Combat Clip for it, that helped alittle.
And after a of shooting, I would clean off the slide and
find that the Aluminum from the frame was slowly wearing alway.
And yes, I tried Hoppies and RemOil.
I traded it in and got a Para-ord p-12.BEST GUN EVER.PERIOD....
The clips are nice to. Double stack or nothing...0 -
I have one of each but mine a both full sized, single action, and double stack mags. I really like my para but I love my Kimber. The kimber has a better trigger, saftey, sights, and shoots much smoother. I know that you are looking at compacts but I dont thing you could go wrong with either.

For a 1911 Single Action CCW it is hard to beat a Kimber CDP. The work on that gun is just awesome.
I just don't see too many Para compacts on the firing line. I have seen tons of CDPs and Kimbers on the firing line so I can speak for their accuracy and reliability.
Also, Para double action line of so called 1911s are NOT 1911s. A 1911 is a SINGLE ACTION firearm. (Pokes at PA BOOGER)0 -
I agree with the recommendations to go to your FFL, one with a range is nice, try out both. I did that, the Para is a good pistol; however, I went with the Kimber Pro CDP II. It is a great gun. Easy carry, accurate as all get out, easy to clean.... so go enjoy yourself at the range and buy one or both.... "Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it." Got both in small and big. They are different guns altogether. The LDA's Para's could be refered to as "politically correct 1911" because of their double action only trigger. You will never have to worry about dropping the slide on a round and it going off, or loading and unloading jitters. Of course the Single Action has a sweeter trigger that can be made into pure silk, but then you have to worry about accidental discharges.
LOOK, JUST BUY THEM BOTH, AND BE DONE WITH IT!!!!![:D][:D][:D]0
