Nikon made a super camera back when, but the new scopes I have seen are made in the Phillipines, and I just find that hard to deal with.
The Burris Fullfield 2, 4.5 X 14 AO is a lot better scope in my opinion, and made in the good old USA...........and about the same price.

Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

I recently installed a Buckmaster 4.5-14x40AO MilDot scope on a customer's rifle, and he is very happy with it. I picked up a 3-9x40 Buckmaster and installed it on a Savage 11G .223 for my own use, and like it very much. Very clear, brilliant optics. The prices you've quoted are good buys.

I rate Nikon Monarch third after Burris Signature, Leupold Vari-x III. The Buckmaster would come somewhere after that. Nikon builds quality optics period.

To my eyes the Nikon optics are as good as any dollar for dollar. I two scopes and bought my son a pair of Nikon binocs. Have not done any of those tests where you move left 6 clicks, up 6, right 12, down 12, etc. until you make the square and back to the starting point. Leupolds pass that test great but...again, to my [8D] the Nikon optics are great.

I don't have a Buckmaster but do have a Monarch mounted on a 300 Win. Mag. and love it. Two years ago I took a good spill, scraped up the objective as well as the bolt so you can imagine how hard the hit was. On sight in the next year it was exactly where it was supposed to be. I have other higher priced scopes but the Nikon is a good quality scope..

    GPWEAPON,

You sure we are talking about the same scope. I havn't seen any of the Nikon Buckmasters scopes over $350. Do you have it confused with a Nikon Monarch. I would guess it would be around $500 or more. I got my prices from Midway, Natchez, Cabelas, and Riflescopes.com. Those were all the AO scopes. The side focus is new and Midway lists it at $349.99 for the Buckmasters 6-18x40 with target turrets. They show that they are not in stock yet, but coming soon. I called MIdway and they told me they are expecting to have them in April or May.

I still think they make the best 35mm and digital slr camera's on the market. I shoot a Nikon F100 with Nikon & Tamron lenses, and stand firmly by them.

Red I think your right I was looking at the Monarch 30-mm I've been looking for a lower power scope with adj. objective and only could find one in the Monarch line.
