Can someone give me the overall length of a M-1? Was Plainfield Machine in Dunellen, NJ a possible mfgr? I inherited this and am going by rough info and pictures. I need to know if it will fit into my Al. case - I'm flying to St. Pete next Wed. Is removing the stock much of a job?

To disassemble, partially loosen the barrel band screw; depress the barrel band retaining spring, & slide the barrel band forward. Lift the action from the stock, starting at the front. Push out the trigger housing retaining pin & remove the trigger housing; if you don't, the pin will fall out by itself & become lost.

Thanks for the reply guys. Sounds like stock removel is pretty simple. I'll take a few tools. If you guys don't hear from me for a while it's because something went terribly wrong at the St. Pete airport!
