I have recently purchased an Iver Johnson M1 US Carbine with a stock that has a rod that pushes in and out and also has a front grip. I was told that this is a rare paratrooper stock. I believe the stock is original because it does have the cut out for the full auto switch. My question is how can I find another stock because this one is broken?

The stock that you describe is an after-market piece of junk, so it's loss is not so terrible. IJ carbines were made in the '50s & '60, so they are commercial, not military. They were also made by more than 1 company. Most likely a USGI stock would fit, but might require minor fitting.

Gun Parts Corp bought a lot of commercial carbine parts after the companies producing them went out of business. If you give them the serial # of your gun, they may even have an original stock that fits it.

PS Just remembered I have a used USGI stock in the basement that you can have for the cost of shipping. Email me if you want it.
