Manton Dueling Pistols
Joseph Manton Dueling Pistols. Immaculate in case with literature and all cleaning equipment etc.
Is $5,000 a fair appraisal value. I think not but would like corroboration. I saw similar or same set sold at auction to an Australian for over $50,000. I would like to see them in a museum so if you have a suggestion as to the name of an appropriate Museum, I would like to have the name.Either the appraiser does not have a clue as to value or he is trying to make a buck at the expense of a little old lady.

Joseph Manton, London England, 1795 - 1835....Maker of Both Flintlock and Percussion Dueling Pistols....Both are valued at about the same.....$5000.00 in Excellent Condition and with Case and Accessories.....Actually a case of supply and demand...I know of No Museum in the market for a set of Duelers......Best.....

It is in fact a fair apprasial value, whether or not someone would or has actually paid more. If you find a buyer willing to pay more then that is the value it sold for. Still, the average sale will not be $50,000 but more like $5,000. 0
