model 99

I have a savage 99 takedown model and want to know what its worth.it is in good shape with a small chip in the stock by the buttplate and a nice engravingof a running deer on the stock. Both look as old as the gun.it has the dates 1893,1899,1907 and 1909.I've had several offers for it and refused all.its been in the family for years and I
will never sell but I want to know what its worth

  forgot to mention the caliber is .303 savage

  The deer carved on the butt stock, not being factory, will detract from the value. If you like, drop me an e-mail, and I will try to help you figure out which model you have and when it was made. Value for most will be in the $350 to $650 range, depending upon condition, caliber and variation. Take downs usually get a modest premium.
