Folding Baretta Shotgun

I just bought a single shot 12gauge shotgun made by Baretta. It's got a "veritable montblanc" engraving and seems very well made. It also has a very long barrel. The most interesting thing about and the reason I bought it: it folds. There's an extra projection in front of the trigger. When you hit it, it breaks the stock and folds up in half. My questions:

1. With the long barrel, can I shoot regular shotgun shells?
2. Any idea on age? Are the folding shotguns rare?

    i checked the gun and here's the markings i could see:
    petro beretta
    gardone VT
    made in italy
    high strength chromium molybdenum steel
    fucile rinforzato speciale brevettato
    12 veritable monobloc

    I have a beretta fs-1 folding stock and it has markings when breaking open the barrel it has a crown with the letter pr underneath it, and also a round marking with a star and underneath that the letters ps, another marking which looks to be a shield, also has a lady playing a harp and the veritable monobloc its engraved very nicely and engravings goin up the barrel. my question is does your gun have the same markings?
