Help identify flintlock pistol

This was recently found in an outbuilding in a rural area. The owner asked for help identifying it; I'd appreciate any assistance. It looks to me like the lock is European (English snaphaunce?) & the rest is crudely made colonial US with multiple alterations & repairs.

  To my uneducated eye, it MIGHT? not be that old. The decoration appears similar to some of the "Tourist Trade" stuff that has come out of North Africa, over the years ( French Colonial Era, circa 1860-1960 ). I don't know any way to positively identify it, with out any markings though.

  i agree with rufe-snow...
  strong arabian influances...
  north african or middle eastern...
  probably put together from parts and embellished for the tourist trade...
  a "MARAKESH" style item...
