Marlin 25MN vs 882

What is the difference between the Marlin 25MN and the model 882? I know they are both 22wmr bolt action with a 7 shot magazine. What else?

Low profile pear shaped bolt handle, top of receiver now round on top without serrations. Deeper telescope mounting dove tail on receiver, Flush magazine plate. 880 magazine is now the same as Marlin's .22 auto loading rifles magazine. Handles only .22LR. Sling swivel studs standard. New design checkering. Rubber rifle buttpad, White line spacers no longer used."

    Thus, most of those changes, except obviously the last, are the differences. Ta Da.

    I'm not sure yet. I believe there are other models of Marlin 22WMR Bolt actions out there. I need to gain more knowledge about each before I can decide.

    They're all a lot of rifle for the money and the .22WMR is a great all-around small gamer and varminter and plinkster for the non-reloader. Before you buy, though, try the Marlin .22WMR with the tube magazine (Can't remeber the model number; mine is stainless with a laminated stock. 883, maybe?). I don't give a damn about the extra mag capacity, but if you carry the gun in the field laid over your left arm and gripped with your left hand, ready to grab with your right hand like I do, that boxy Marlin clip magazine is really NOT comfortable. Don't know how many others carry hunting guns like that, but it frees my right hand to fend off briars and swat bugs and grab trees when climbing a hill (and scratch when I miss the bug....). Works with a light shotgun, too.
