Where can I get an AK 47?

I want to buy a ak47 just for plinking around. I want to get one for under $250 where can i get one?

    Go find a copy of the Shotgun News, local book store etc. It is loaded with companies selling AK's, mags, ammo etc.

    You can shop at your leasure without driving all over town.

    250 aint going to get you to much maybe a singal stack one. For 320 you can get a romanian wasr10.

    I think what they are saying is that the wasr 10 for one, is a more recent import that got around some of the "objectional features" by using a single stack as opposed to the original double stack, high capacity mags. Single stack mags function like Colt 1911's where one cartridge is pretty much directly on top of the next one down. Double stacks stagger the rows to get higher capacity, like the 15 round 9mm's. You have to use the single stack mags in some, and cannot use the much more common (until high cap. mag law) high caps.
    Seems like someone said there was a way to alter this, but was touchy work to make it work right. If a high cap. mag is important to you, you'll need to find out and eduacate yourself which is which before you buy. Try a local gun show. There usually are quite a few examples of each type and sometimes some good deals.

    there is a company in shotgun news that has the single stack models for about $179.

    you can get an mak90 for about $200-$250.

    they are about the best you can get for the price range. they are also rumored to have the best trigger group which i can vouch for b/c i have an mak90 that i put a tapco u.s. fcg in and it is junk compared to the original mak90 group that was in it. not to mention the blued finish that they have is less prone to getting scratched and scuffed like the "painted" wasr and maddi and saiga. saigas are great! i have 3 of em. but they aren't as "flexible" as a regular ak variant. they have to be modified to accept hi caps and regular ak stock sets. hope this helps!

    Ohio Rapid Fire cleans up the WASR10s refinishes them and restocks them. At $399 not that bad of a deal.

    I bought FAL through ORF. Good place to deal with.

    GO TO YOUR LOCAL GUN SHOPS THEY MAY HAVE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. IF NOT ASK IF THEY KNOW OF ANY GUN SHOWS THAT ARE COMING UP IN YOUR AREA. GUN SHOWS ARE A GREAT PLACE TO FIND USED GUNS AT GOOD PRICES.

    do a search on gunbroker sometimes there are single stack rifles in your price range
