Thompson 1927 A1 Kahr clone

Does anybody out there know anything about the reliability of the Kahr/Auto ordnance clone of this tommy gun. I have a chance to buy one and I think they look cool. I can get one for $800.00 in the deluxe model with the stick magazine. How doe the stick compare to the drum magazines available.

    I have one with both types of magazines. With the 50 round mag loaded, the thing weighs a ton! BTW, there are 2 types of drum mags--one with 10 rounds and the other with 50. Still, it causes a lot of looks at the range. Fires well and no problems.

    I'd check around a bit more; that $800 seems to be retail. Do a search here on Gunbroker and see the range they are selling for. Good luck and enjoy.

    I recently sold my 27A1 with a 39-rd drum. So now you've got THREE drums to think about: 10, 39, and 50-rd. The 39 was very comfortable weight-wise, compared to the 50. If you can't hit what you want with 39 rounds, throw the gun at 'em.

    I too have an A1 with the 39 round drum. If I'm not prying would you mind stating what you sold yours for?

    Do you know, will the keys for the newer 10 & 50 round drums work on the 39 round drum? When you talk to Auto-Ordnance (Kahr) they state that they don't know because the 39 round drums were produced prior to their aquisition.[?][?][?]

    Hi notdownandout. I've sent you a PM in response to your question. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but the 39-rd was VERY easy to load. My understanding, from the comments at that website I cited, those drums were manufactured in Japan and AO then stamped their name, address and bullet logo on the cover. It was understood that it was cheaper for them to import than tooling up to produce them themselves.
