model 37's
Just picked up a model 37 off of this site in a .410 bore. I cannot find info on how many of each caliber was made. I paid $300 for a 37 .410 in exc. cond. is the .410 more scarce than the larger bores?

Hello cartod! There were about 1,000,000 Md 37s made in 12,16,20,28, & .410 gauges. 28 gauges are the rarest, the .410 is the next in value, but not necessarily next in being rare. Production numbers of each grade have not been made available and or records were not kept. A book you might want to buy is "Winchester Shotguns and Shot Shells" by R. Stadt, he covers the general stuff about all pre-64 shotguns, by Winchester, and a few of the "Smooth bore" rifles. Regards Dave 0
