Savage 99 in 22-250?
I spotted a nice 99 chambered in 22-250 but am a bit apprehensive about it. Specifically, it has a "C" prefix to a 1946 range serial number. The Blue Book only shows 22-250 being built in '65 and '95-'97 in the 99C. Has this rifle been rebarreled? It has a detachable mag and some of the nicest wood I've ever seen on a 99.
Thanks, Bill

I can not help you there. But the 99 Savage in 250-3000 will find its way into my gun rack someday.

From what I can find the 22-250 cal was introduced in 1977 and discontinued in 1980. look it over real close, double check that serial # . might be something cooool! [:)]

Just remembered. My brother in law has one. He is a lefty so likes levers. Shoots like a champ in his hands. I did not like the detachable mag. as I like the old ones with the internal rotary mag. 70's is the right era for this rifle.

Jar is correct the .22-.250 was added in 1977 (discontinued in 1980). You may have something unusual, but it is probably more likely it was re-barreled, just because that happens more often. 0
