"Tommy Gun" Primer/Shell Question?
Hi, I have a model 1927 A Thompson Auto Ordnance 45 cal "Tommy Gun".
It was manufactured in the 70's in West Hurley NY.
My question is this, all my spent brass looks like the pictures below. The rifle fires flawlessly but the indented/bulged primers have me a little concerned.
Is this anything to be concerned about? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it. I am pretty sure that this gun fires from an open bolt and I think this is why it looks like that. 0 -
does it do it on all types of ammo?

It is hard to tell from just a pic ,it looks like it might be the firing pin or spring ,it may have been changed ,when it strikes it is pushing the anvil into the primer pocket with such force it is pushing it out backwards ,with the combined pressure of the ignition of the round
If it where just one type of ammo ,I would say it was over pressure of the case ,but since it does it with al types of ammo ,I would lean towards a firing pin ,or firing pin spring issue ,I don't think it is head space .45 acp's don't really care about head space like rifles ,and since I assume it is semi auto it wouldn't be an open bolt ether

wait a minute, i thought the old 28 overstamp class 3's were open bolt? arent the new ones closed bolts? 0 -
I may be wrong then if it is a semi. I thought he was talking about the full auto guns that they made in the 1970's. 0
