AR-15 how long should i go?

I am wondering how many f.p.s will gain when compareing a 20" bbl to the 24" bbl. I am thinking of buying a RRA 24" varmint upper and allready have the 20" upper. Or will I not notice much of a gain? I will be shooting mostly ball ammo. Thanks

  My best guess is about 75 feet per second faster per inch. [8D]

  Most of the time im just target shooting by myself. However i dont want to limit myself to just plinking.
