.22 Huntmaster 33A

Hello. I recently purchased at an auction a .22 cal. pump-action rifle.It has rollmarked on the barrel Huntmaster 33A. Also rollmarked under the rear sight is "pat. applied for" Instead of the usual "pat pend". This rifle has a hammer. I have not been able to find any info on this and wondered if anyone can help. I thought it might be a Remington since they have numerous "master" rifles but have been unable to confirm this. Thank you. Tim

  Huntmaster rings a bell for me too, but just now not a useful bell. If you get no responses that are helpful, I will hit the books tonight and see what I can find. Sounds somewhat like the Winchester model 62, but of course Winnie did not make a model 33 slide action. Good Question!

  Remington did make a Model 33 22 caliber rifle, dating to the early 30's. It was a bolt action single shot though. I own a Model 34 which is a repeating version with a tube magazine.
  
  It's possible that you have "Hardware Gun" that was made by one of the many manufacturers of 22 rifles in the early part of the 20th Century. Huntmaster 33A, MIGHT? be just another grandiose trade name.

  I believe your gun is a Nobel 33. I have one just like yours. If I am correct yours has a Tenite stock and forearm. These guns were made By the Noble Firearms Company. I have had trouble figuring out what store used the Huntsmaster name. I was told that it was the Spiegle cataloge company. The one thing that is throwing me off is you say it has a hammer. The noble did not. The receiver is round, with an internal hammer.
