U.S. firing attachment blank ammo M 12 ?

I have this piece that is L shaped that says U.S. firing attachment blk. ammo M 12 EMMP.CO What is this? M12 shotgun, grenade launcher? thanks in advance/ nambu// size----about 5"x 2"

    How about a picture or a better description. Doubt it's for a 12 ga. Most common use of BFA (blank firing adapters) is on rifles and machine guns. They are used to make the firearm's action cycle when firing blanks, usually painted red and designed to give you a lot of visual indication that you have it installed so you don't try to fire live ammo. Would make a mess.
