Remington Sportsman 48 vs the 11-48?

Will the 11/48 barrel fit the sportsman 48? Please email if you can help to fred@hunters-den.com. I've been told yes and no on this fit and hope you experts can help.

    I've been told that a 12 gauge barrel off a 11-48 also fits the Sportsman 48 shotgun. Is this true? Thanks in advance. Fred

    i believe the only thing different btwn both guns is the mag tube capacity.

    I have the sportsman 48 and was looking in the past to see if any parts were interchangeable (like the magazines and wood).
    Everything I looked up said that they were not.
    Not too sure about the barrels, but I'd assume that they are two different guns altogether.

    According to the way I read my parts book of about 1962, the M11-'48 and Sportsman '48 barrels have the same part number and are interchangeable within the same gauges except for the 28 ga. and .410 bore.

    There's a place that sells stocks and barrels in the gunlist (not cheap) and their ads have always stated that the barrels and stocks on the two guns are interchangable (along with the mohawk shotgun). The places is called vintage something-or-other.
