.308 on stripper clips...

Were the stripper clips used only to load mags, or was there an actual rifle that took those 5 round clips? This has been bugging me for quite some time. [:D]

  Isreal ( 98 K ), Spain ( FR-7, FR-8 ), India ( No. 1 Mk 3* ), and I presume others, used bolt action military rifles chambered for the 7.62 x 51mm cartridge in the 1950's. Since they were used by the military forces of these countries, the ammo was on strippers.

  My M1A has a stripper clip guide so you can "top off" mags rather than change them out.
