S&W Frame letters?
How do I tell what frame Letter a S&W is? by model #? is it stamped on the gun? I have an old 66-1 and want to know if it is a J, K, L, whatever. any help?

"K"

Duckhunter is correct. K frame...but just to be complete... the M66 is a "KT" where the T stands for "target". The target frame models have adjustable rear sights and serrated grip frame.

I recently purchased an old s&w revolver, and had the same question on what the gun frame design might be and how they go about labeling all their variations. This info may shed some light on the subject. It was active I know of yesterday. (http://www.sixguns.com/range/jframes.htm)0
