Red Dot Sight Recomendations

I have asked about what scope I should consider for a hunting rig using my Taurus Raging Bull 44 mag, 8 3/8". How about what Red Dot Sights I should consider? A lot of people seem to think they are better than a scope for use in a hunting rig. I would appreciate any input about brands and features I should be considering. Thanks.

    Bushnell Holosight the best ,,, no shadows, no black tubes, no tring to find the cross hairs , no seeing nothing but fur if your target is too close , if you can see it , good light or bad light you can shoot it with a holosight on your gun ,,,, but if you really want a pistol scope I have several i would sell [:D]

    Well it all depends on how much you want to spend....for $35 you can get a BSA red dot scope and for $300 you can get the best money can buy so all depends on you

    you say you want this for hunting, in that case you do not want a reddot that has a tube or in other words is like a scope , because what happens in low light condition , is you get a red glare inside that tube and you can't see your target , ( deer, bear what ever you're hunting ) also you are still looking thru a tube , even if you keep both eyes open , it still limits what you can see , on the other hand if you go with a holo sight you are not looking thru any tube , you don't get glare because there is no tube to reflect off of .

    one other thing if you're puting this on a 454 the cheap ones are not going to take the recoil, spent the money and get one that will do what you want

    Thanks for the info.
    I was looking at the Nikon Monarch Red Dot with 6 MOA dot. They look great but, I also need to check out those holo sights by Bushnell.
    What size dot is the best for whitetail deer at under 75 yards, or more like 50 yards and under?

    The red dot is very hard to find in an a hurry for me. Loooking down the tube while keeping an eye on the deer and not moving too fast was a royal pain. I lost a shot at a deer that I could have taken with iron sights because I could not "find" the dot before the deer figured out that being there was a bad idea. The glare off the red dot at low light is bad, it obscures the whole target.

    An advantage of cross hairs and some magnification is they help shoot between tree branches that you can't even see with a red dot.
