I checked the Browning serial number chart in the Blue Book and can find no Brownings with an X prefix on the serial number. If you are putting an X in place of the first digit then the rifle was made in either 1935 if the first digit is a "1" or 1947 if the first digit is a "2". After we determine the date of mfg, features and condition we can help you establish a value. I don't believe the Sweet 16 was in production in 1935. If it is a standard weight 16 ga, then it is of less value than the Sweet 16.

If the X is actually an A it's an American Browning made by Remington.

The "X" series Sweet Sixteens were manufactured during the mid to late 1950s.

As for the value, it depends a lot on the graded condition... which you did not mention. Sweet Sixteens can range from $300 (for a well used gun) to as much as $1500 (for one in near mint condition). Post a few pictures of your gun, and I can give you a much better idea of what it is worth.
