I'm a novice reloader and i'm trying to find out who makes the best small rifle primers and bullets on the market.[:)]

You will never go wrong with CCI primers and Speer bullets. Your choice of bullet will ultimately depend on what your firearm likes and the type of game you are after or play. 0 -

Just go to Google and enter reloading and you will get about a million sites to try. Go to the Paintball(reloading) forum on this site and you can get some ideas there. 0 -
Many reloading manuals cover the basics fairly well. My Nosler #4 edition covers it well. I keep for my reloading, reasonably current, copies of the Sierra, Speer, Nosler and Hornady manuals. Cross checking between sources can give good insights at times.
I've tried several different brands of primers over the years. CCI is suppose to be one of the best. But for my money I use Winchester primers. They go bang consistantly and are a few bucks less money per 1000. For plinking at those dangerous paper targets I use the least expensive slugs that the rifle shoots well. For hunting I use a bullet that works for both the rife and game. Speer Hot Cores are hard to beat for a good quality middle of the road bullet. For deer, black bear, wild boar sized game they would be great. For elk and such I'd go with something more like a barnes or a failsafe. Just recognize that even after twenty years of reloading there will still be more to learn.

If you post this on the reloading forum you will get more responses. With a question like this you will get a different response from everyone who answers,as everybody has their own favorites, Personally,I like Federal match primers and Sierra bullets.

I use both Winchester and CCI primers. CCI in my .223 and Winchester in my 22-250. I have never had a problem with either and both produce very accurate reloads for both of my guns. As for bullets, I mainly use Hornady bullets. I use a ton of the v-max bullets for varmiting and have dropped deer in their tracks with A-max bullets. Both the a-max and v-max are very accurate in my guns. The best thing for you to do is to try different bullets no matter who makes them and see which is the most accurate in YOUR gun. The two volume Hornady reloading manual is one of the best I have found. 0 -
I load my .223 HOT+++ and I have had the least primer piercings with CCI. Winchester primers on the other hand were constantly punched through. CCI also seems to give the most consistent ignition. My SD numbers fell in half when I went to CCI, and that goes for handguns as well.

I've used CCI primers for years, tens of thousands of them, and have never had a reason to switch to anything else. I load and shoot a lot of different bullets depending on the occasion but always go back to Sierra for accuracy loading. Sierras have performed very well for me 180 grain SPBT for Deer, Elk, Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat in my 30/06, 100 SPBT in the .243 and 257 Roberts for Deer and Antelope and 52 grain Matchkings in the 22/250 and .223 for varmints and punching paper. They are actually quite a bargain too.

Once you find "THE LOAD" for your rifle try different primers. I load 308 and 30-06 target loads for four different rifles and use three different primers. It isn't much of a difference in accuracy, maybe an 1/8" but, it's a difference.
Testing which load is best is scarry to the beginner, so many combo's. Just keep good notes and go slow.

The best primer is the one that gives you the best accuracy in YOUR rifle. Once I find a charge that gives me decent accuracy and the ballistics I want. Then its time to try all the different primers. You would be amazed what a primer does to a load.
By the way, if you use Varget, CCIBR2 primers rule with that powder.0
