international harvester what is it worth

i need to sell my internation harvester but i dont know how much to ask it has ih on everthing except the trigger assembley and the receiver top plate. been told buy a gun trader that it was the nicest m-1 hes seen thanks for any info.

    a little more info for us would be appreciated. How much wear is on the rifle?

    We would also need to know the serial #, the number stamped in the stock barrel channel, & if the stock has a cartouche & the original milling marks.

    Put it on for 1 dollar and see the results...Anybody can say its "worth" 750. dollars...ok where do I sell it for that..Gunbroker will let you know the going rate. IMO nambu

    mm8nambu has it right. Put it up for action. That is the only way to determine fair market value. Make sure you include lots of good, clear pics.

    Just a note here.

    You might want to put a reserve on that rifle! The IH's weren't the best Garnads made but right now they are very (VERY?) collectable. At least that is what I've found up here in the upper midwest. You might sell what everyone thinks is a shooter and not many collectors would see and therefore not offer collector price for it. -Good luck.

    In order to get top dollar from an auction, you have to know enough about a gun to describe it completely. That includes detailed photos of many parts. This could be a $500-600 gun, but it also could be a $1,500-2,000 gun. If he posts it with dark, distant photos, folks will assume it is a less desireable gun. Unfortunately, there's no way to tell him everything he needs to know on this forum.

    Offtokill, I suggest that you hold off on selling it until you can have it evaluated hands-on by an expert. There are several books that might help, but they aren't cheap. You may need to go to gun shows, or you may have to find a collector; you might try writing to the Garand Collectors Assoc. & asking if there is a collector in your area. Whatever, you need to be cautious.
