Can I with a C&R licence ship a C&R Hand Gun to an other C&R licence holder in an other state? I got a no from the ATF office in Philadelphia and a yes from another agent several days later.

    Need a little help here.I sold a rifle that qualifies as a C&R relic. The buyer wants me to ship it to his work address since he is not usually home to sign for it. Question, can i ship to his work address even though the address on his license is different? I don't want to violate any rules.thanks in advance. Dave

    Depends on your PO. Take a copy along just in case. Good luck.

    They have a list of general questions that they are supposed to ask, like, "Does your package contain anything fragile, liquid, etc." They usually don't ask specifically what a package contains, but they may; if they do, you must tell them or it (& you) may be extensively screened. They have recently started a program to retrain clerks to be more vigilant, & some are very anxious to apply their new knowledge.

    I'd bring the recipient's FFL with me to the PO, but I've never needed to show it.

    in my opinion the post office is more troublesome than UPS. but do take the ffl with you just in case and know the usps rules for shipping firearms-you will find the rules at the website under the category "tarriffs"

    Duck is correct. Mine asked me if it was loaded? NO///I also took the bolt out to tell them it was inoperable. The next time the "relief" lady was in there. She states "Gee that looks like it could be a gun?'I said it was. She took two steps back from the box,,,the other two older ladies in the office also backed up.........and said quote "IS THERE EXPLOSIVES IN THERE? Duh,,no. She had to call the district office to see if she could ship a long gun. They immediately told her yes,,as long as its to a dealer. I thought she was going to call the ATF the way she looked at me.. true story nambu

    a lot of times they wont ask until you tell them you want hundreds of dollars of insurance - then it is like "what is it" - I usually just walk up and my first sentence is that I am shipping this shotgun Priority Mail to a gun dealer in ________ ,and then I have gotten my part out of the way and the burden is on them to get it done. My favorite is when the want to write "Firearm" on the box - geez. You should know the regs better than they do and they have a laminated chart that shows them exactly what is required. Be patient. Always have the FFL with you just in case - I have it in my hand and point it at them. Dont just walk up and go I have a gun to ship. They will flip

    No can do.

    You can only send a firearm by UPS from a company customer service counter, not a UPS store or packing store. And, you must request an "Adult signature required" sticker, which will cost about $5 in addition to the shipping charge. And, they only accept firearms from nonlicensees for repair or customizing; of course, some folks would declare it as "firearm for repair".
